I noticed my screen very dull with windows 10 and this forum.
It seems to alter from desktop version to responsive during the installation.
easy to fix though

Read about the bloke downloading W10 overnight, his Mrs gets up for a late night cuppa and sees the 'porn gallery' loading in glorious details. Note I am staying with 7pro for a while yet;)

I updated 2 of my work pc's this week and found out that i couldn't send any emails on outlook
I panicked a bit then did some digging , couldn't get it fixed then went back to 8.1
I have left it on the one pc to see if they have an update
My 8 yr old son has done it on his laptop and I can't get him to shut up about it and how different it is to 8.1

For me ATM, the best set up is Win 8.1 pro with Classic Shell. (like win 7 but faster) . Win 10 pro needs a fair bit of development before it's of any use to me.

Still using windows 7 on my desktop, have no plans to upgrade to win10 for a few months at least.
Like old codger i also have win 8.1 with classic shell, happy enough with them as they are.

updated from windows 8 to 10 yesterday was dubious as microsoft clearly cant count 8..9..10 but it all semed to be fine. nice to have the start buton back and be able to turn the computer off from their instead of that silly menu that appeared from the top corner. havent used that new internet software just still using fire fox (cause it works great for me). still think xp was the best but happy with windows 10 for now

Older versions of windows are fine for customers, but buying an operating system once and not paying anything else for years isn't so fine for MS.

I wounder whether they will keep supporting older versions as long as they did for XP?

My desk top still has a message saying ,,We are validating W10 for your PC ,,with notify me when its ready ,,maybe it doesn't want activate ,not really fussed

If you dig into your windows update history, you will probably find that it has tried to download Win 10 about 27 times & failed!. They are not validating -- they're struggling! don't be tempted to install it yet -- It's nowhere near ready for general release ATM.

If you are on limited internet access, might be worth switching off automatic updates, as we notice it seems to download and then dump when not installed. Leaving the customer paying for downloaded data usage, 250MBytes, if I remember correct.
But then you don't have automatic updates, for the important security stuff ......................

Got one computer which helpfully got the "Get Windows 10" widget thing popped up to get the free upgrade. Another computer doesn't get it though and after looking into it tonight, have discovered its running an "OEM licensed" version, so that one is not eligible for free upgrade apparently!

Why do MS have to make it so especially hard, just go the way of Apple and give the darn OS away
Well eat my words. The win 7 OEM licensed machine actually popped the upgrade widget last week.

It's a virtual machine that I run from within Parallels on a MacBook. Opened it up and low and behold it's saying the display adapter is not compatible. Quick Google to discover that the display adapter is not on the compatibility list (yet) but can be still upgraded - needs to be done using the manual media creation tool.

Not sure I can be bothered yet, sounds like too many tales of woe. Part of the reason why I left MS as my main OS back in 2007. Not much changed then it seems.
