I would rather have that work than a KV any day. So much more "soil made available", which as its in furrow crests, will take much less power to work down, unlike the kv where your trying to make a seed bed by tearing it out of the back of complete furrows.
Best mounted plough I had was a TS 86 fitted with KH bodies

Do you want to buy it? I've come to the conclusion that I have too many ploughs and not enough time on my hands to use them all.

Will, I didnt manage to catch up with you at Flint but did see the super hydrein parked up there, there was a whole herd of Welshmen stood around it so I asked which one of them it belonged to, unfortunately the answer was none of them, I hadn't realized the hydrein was purchased from our very own Mr Aukland
PM me a price on the Fiskar please and I will give it some thought

Catch up with you in person at Denbighshire maybe?

Make me an offer on the fiskars Roy, I am in no rush to sell it was just a thought that I might possibly sell it. I did come and see you plough for seconds, did you see a chap in a case boiler suit looking at you plough? If you did that was me. Yes i bought it off David Auckland, he is a very nice man and I had a chat with him on saturday. Yes I'll be at Denbighshire and I'll come to have a chat with you. My ploughing wasn't as good as I had hoped at flint, shall be better next time after I get more practice. Has the hydraulics died on the David Brown Roy? Seeing that you have piped it to use a spool to raise and lower them?

You should have introduced yourself Will, I also get on well with David but if you were in line for a bollocking David would surely give it to you :ROFLMAO:
The control valve was worn out, a common problem on DB's, a combination of stupid gear lever holders and gaiters that last around 5 days from new caused the ingress of dirt and water to the gearbox, add to that soft metal used by DB in the manufacture of the control valve and it causes the Selectamatic to become a Jerkomatic hydraulic system.
A new control valve is hard to come by and secondhand is somewhat of a lottery to get a good one, £ 55 worth of spool plus pipes gave me a total cost of £120 to do the job, and a much better system for what I use it for, but it has no draught control, not that it had it before due to that stupid external cable that also lasted no time at all from new and was no where near as accurate as the main stream tractors of the era.
will have a think about the Fiskar

I was going to introduce myself but you looked busy so I thought that I'd let you be. There was very good ploughing there on saturday. Problem with the field that we were in was that there was big fat combine marks across of the plots and a lot of straw as the field looked quite wet.

Competition was tight in the classics, I knew it would be when half of Yorkshire turned up, there was no less than 4, maybe 5 ( 4 recent) national champs ploughing, this showed in the results as well, I drove around the plots and had 4 in mind for the top 4 but couldn't decide on a winner so I walked around and still couldn't decide.
There was 5 points separating the 1st 4 competitors, the 4th place was placed 1st by the judge at one end 4th at the other end, I was placed 2nd at one end-3rd at other, came out 3rd on aggregate, the winner was placed 1st at one end and joint 3rd at the other and 2nd place man was placed 2nd and joint 3rd at other, so you can get the picture of just how tight it was, 5th place was a full 14 points behind these 4

Yes it was very close, the judges had a hell of a job In deciding the winner. Are you going to come down to our match to show the locals how it's done?
If you mean Denbighshire Farmers then yes I should be there, I have been 3 times to Denbigh, all on the same field, won 1st time there, Griff won next time then me again last time, however if you mean Anglesey, then no I haven't the time to get there, might do Sarn this time if everything here goes well

Sarn I am refering at, we've just had a field and it will be on grassland hopefully. Griff is a hell of a ploughman, how does he win with those epic boards?

Told Gareth he ought to give Griff that 86 and he would show everyone including the Yorkies how to plough, " I wouldn't get it back boy" was his reply :D

If the land happens to suit Griffs Epic's he can really put a plot together, on Saturday with the soil slowing slightly even on the less abrupt mouldboards he was buggered completely :(

He wins Gareth most of the time doesn't he. I'll have yo watch out if this is the case with me and my brother, him winning me with his standard bamford hydrein and me with my new plough. I have a ts59 with tcn's but I don't seem to get anywhere with that.

Yes it is on harry, we had difficulty obtaining a field but now all is good. Yes it is on the last weekend in April which I believe is the 24th. Are you coming up for it? No I didn't get much luck in obtaining his number.

All being well I will be there, hoping to do a much better job than I did last year, which was a complete disaster! I will be doing my spring tour of Wales. Carmarthen, Builth, Hereford finishing at Sarn. I just need to get an ok from Chris Newsham at the camping site. I will make more enquiries re Richards number.

Builth is on the 18th, Hereford is on the 19th and about 15 miles apart, if you contact John he may be able to sort out an overnight stay for you. I should get an entry form, they sent me one last year, oh one thing, where is the match this year?
