Looking at a KV TS for a specific project drilling mainly into unmoved ground. I see they can be fitted with a narrow tungsten point. Are they worth the extra spent?

I can’t tell you about the new tine but you won’t get the standard tine into unmoved ground very well so I’d pay the extra for the narrow time. I’d be interested to know what the extra is if you get a quote? We were looking at getting some spares to covert our 4.8m

I found a video on you tube of a Spainish farmer drilling direct with these. It doesn't say whos tines they are though. I'm waiting to speak with Mike Metcalfe if they've a suitable conversion.

My research suggests only parts that need changing are the coulter and tine leg. Spring and clamp same part numbers. Was quoted £173 per coulter after discount

So our 4.8m would cost £6500 to upgrade! That’s 2/3 of the total drill value!
Its always expensive to change stuff.
What's a claydon leading tine plus Coulter etc now? Bet there's no change from £250 each row of wearing parts, albeit there's not so many to change.

They ought to last forever, especially if you put some hardfacing on the cheeks.

It did look to be making a nice job, the springs weren't giving much which surprised me, DD with the old double ended points snapped lots of springs until I added a leaf.

If buying new forget the ts the frame and time isn’t really upto to job of direct drilling you need to look at a sabretine as this is designed from the ground up as a direct drill not just a tine swop creation.
