Yes, a 350 dangles behind the dog, whereas the 420 is the steaming pile behind the dog.:poop:
Yep I tend to agree but you won't go far wrong with a 500 auto. Got two of them here and have had probably another five of them over the years. (y)

Can't comment on the Can Am as never driven or owned one. Had Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki in the past and they weren't a patch on the Honda (though they may be much better now?).

If you're on the flat maybe a diesel would suit but they're far too sluggish and heavy for our hills. Plus if one happened to land on top of you........

What are suzukis like? Might be in market myself. Good Honda dealer not too far away just seeing what else there is

We've got 3 500's here. They go well but don't like to much weight on them very soft ride. Like being sat on a spring someone said. And they don't stop like a Honda. But they don't eat belts like some other autos seam to.
They have power steering but it's not that noticeable unlike the Honda and Polaris which you can literally just use a finger!

If you have a good dealer nearby I'd stick with him. (whatever make he sells).
this is the deciding factor for us,but we only keep them 2yrs,i dont care how good the bike is if the dealers a wally i cant be bothered, need it most days and if its poorly its got to be mended or lent another by the morning,ps this is for hunting so far more important than shepherding :D

I buy what i need/want, i couldnt give a toss about dealer im rarely ever back to main dealers they are far to expensive. i dnt understand why folk give a sh!t about dealers, they dont give one about you they over charge and stick it up you when they twig your loyal to them.

We've got a Can Am dealer just started up about 6-7miles from us,after reading all the good reports on here about them, just had to go to their open day a couple months back. Tried out a 450,500 and a 570, the 450 seemed ok till we tried out the 500 and 570,there's some go in them
could have bought a road legal 500 with alloys and power steering for less money than we paid for a basic 420 honda 18months ago!
They told us that the 500 was going out of production though which is a pity as my honda still in warranty and would prob lose too much on it to change now, would like to try one out on the hill first anyway

As for other makes,we've had a Suzuki 400 eiger which was good on fuel stable but had lots of repairs, though they say they are better now
We had a Yam 450 auto which we thought was a pile of carp, very heavy on fuel unstable glad to see it gone
Went back to Honda 420's which have been better and a good local dealer

:scratchhead:

Where do you go for parts, service and repairs then? A good dealer will get you going or lend you a spare machine. That's priceless in busy periods. Someone two hundred miles away who you bought something off because it was fifty quid cheaper won't want to know you when something breaks and I doubt your local guy will bend over backwards to help you either in that case.
