WHICH QUAD

We've got a Can Am dealer just started up about 6-7miles from us,after reading all the good reports on here about them, just had to go to their open day a couple months back. Tried out a 450,500 and a 570, the 450 seemed ok till we tried out the 500 and 570,there's some go in them
could have bought a road legal 500 with alloys and power steering for less money than we paid for a basic 420 honda 18months ago!
They told us that the 500 was going out of production though which is a pity as my honda still in warranty and would prob lose too much on it to change now, would like to try one out on the hill first anyway

As for other makes,we've had a Suzuki 400 eiger which was good on fuel stable but had lots of repairs, though they say they are better now
We had a Yam 450 auto which we thought was a pile of carp, very heavy on fuel unstable glad to see it gone
Went back to Honda 420's which have been better and a good local dealer
Honda dealer in Builth? (y)

Just said id ask when I had so many people knowledgeable about quads because I'm definitely not

We used to pull one on hilly/steep ground with a 350 its grip you'd run out of rather than power

Bigger the better. I'd say 500cc plus for the bigger snacker. I know some people tow a small trailer behind a snacker on the flat. Wouldn't like to try that here.

Where do you go for parts, service and repairs then? A good dealer will get you going or lend you a spare machine. That's priceless in busy periods. Someone two hundred miles away who you bought something off because it was fifty quid cheaper won't want to know you when something breaks and I doubt your local guy will bend over backwards to help you either in that case.
Well i have never ever been stuck, there is allways another way, its just easier going to main dealer but you pay through the snowt for the privilege.

Yes I agree but a bigger bike grips better because it's a bit heavier.

Tractor tread tyres are the dogs rubbish IMHO.
agree about the tyres, the tyres on new bikes are'nt much good for long, as said prev. our 420 is only 18 months old but is starting to skate sideways already

We've got a 500 with tractor tyres and I wouldn't buy a smaller bike now but its the trailer with ewes in going uphill that really sups the power, on flat ground a 350 would probably do
