Dear FF community, Just wondering what kind of bedding costs for poultry you are experiencing out there right now. Particularly sawdust costs for deep litter. any heads up, especially in the South West would be welcome.

That's totally right - remember just under a century ago we were sending 'children' to the front lines to fight wars. I think 'children' (16+) are still able to join the army.

Why are we trying to shield the next generation of ADULTs from anything and everything? Where will it end - the same folk crying out have no problem with abortion or euthanasia. I can see how people can be exploited but we are talking about a family farm and not Uber - they need stakeholders who have something to gain beyond £5 p/H

An attitude of gratitude goes a very long way - we are alive, we have health we have food shelter loved ones and the opportunity to work which is a precious gift even in the UK. Seek to do well with what you have got and serve others.

Switch up your model - don't employ make them or a select couple who a keen self-employed contractors who run the operation for a fee. They are then responsible for their taxes, sick leave etc... I saw a guy do this with laundrettes and he got some really keen people who partnered with him to...

Globally people are getting very excited by the utility of Black Soldier Fly Larvae as an ecological powerhouse. Currently it is being used to process manure and food waste and a US company is starting commercial production. As a poultry feed supplement it has a variety of benefits...

I think you all would make excellent obstetricians - women on labour ward don't get this much attention!
