I live near a 300 acre industrial estate which has taken over 1 year to be built so far. It's VERY obvious that site is emitting soil particles all the time. Yet your graph only shows "Cultivation". This is not correct and is biased. I don't see any evidence of sewerage outfalls. I know my drainage ditches have deposits mainly from rabbits and badgers which deposit subsoil into ditches in large quantities. I also know in my village large amounts of water from A roads erode banks and flood fields.
There is good advice in here for all of us in agriculture but I wish that the HSE would add more nuance to their incessant pushing of "safe stop". How can one use the modern tractor external implement hitching controls if the full "safe stop" proceedure is followed for example?
An important aspect of farmer learning that is being badly underplayed in teh SFI / ELM scheme as far as I can see. I'm deeply pleased to see someone has published a paper on it as, ironically, that will being it more into view of those in positions of influence.
