Not ScotEID, but I don't know whether it's linked to the changes at BCMS or not. I sometimes follow up stores off movements just to see when certain ones go to slaughter etc and that hasn't been working. Didn't work in the month up to Oct 1, then worked for 1 day and now back to only being able...

Using a drone to check stock.

I've got a Mavic Mini, works well for quick checks on stock, spotting if anything is off on its own etc. Can get a fair idea if something is off colour by their reaction to the drone. All our cattle come and look at it, whilst sheep move off. We're under flight path for local airport so under...

Farming family's anguish as 220 lambs taken by sea eagles

They don't get it wrong, they don't care! They pay lip service until they get what they want. Then the first thing is "it's a newly learnt behaviour in a local population", how fascinating. Not one of them will ever admit that predators will always take the easiest option. Released birds...

Any of the main pcp manufacturers should be fine for sub 20 yard shooting, just make sure it has a good magazine capacity for follow up shots and nice bolt system that is easy to find/operate at night in gloves etc. No need to spend a fortune though I'd probably look at carbine/bullpup over...

Had roasted jerusalem artichoke with dinner last night- feel it's only right to own up and say increased methane today is not the cows fault, it's mine 🌬️

I thought I'd seen it all, hay making Montana style.

Plenty of uses for old baler string! Belt, hinges, hobble, dog lead, gate latch, padlock (when someone can't tie quick release knots for hinges) 😉

Parents are on Llyn Peninsula for a week, could have brought it back in a suitcase! Think I hired a van in Gaerwen when I was working up near Cemaes. Stermat?

I agree, I looked at the AHDB website for calves- Hereford heifer <6 week average of £133 so I'd have gone £150. But considering theirs no haulage for them, no time feeding, powder, hassle, auctioneers fees, yet they still want month old conti heifer price

Yeh, I thought they were taking the psss and that's confirmed it. Don't want to barren the cow off if I can help it but there's a limit to how far my pants will come down

What should I be expecting to pay for an Angus x heifer out of dairy? Under a week old. 4th calver suckler lost calf and looking to put a replacement on?
