Old farmer's saying's..... do you know any ?

A peck of March dust is worth a king's ransome

    12 m tramlines

I don't think you're allowed to own those anymore, and it's mostly gone mechanised now anyway.

    Case Combines

While decent Claas and New Holland straw walker machines are about, it does for me!!

    Case Combines

I dislike Axial Flows intensely, I tried to run a late 1680 for a few years. Incredibly unreliable, and far more complicated than they're made out to be, there's plenty of stuff to go wrong! They plug up at the front and wrap up at the back if a cloud passes over. If you're used to a walker...

    Lucerne drilling date -

Moisture and warmth is more important than date. Having said that, the date often dictates moisture and warmth!! There's a lot grown round here, always reccomended to get it in by the end of August, but 2nd even 3rd week of September does well if the conditions are right, but you can only know...

    BASIS / NROSO CPD Points

Every time I speak to them they seem lovely, but the organisation behind it seems a bit of a shambles. I got an invoice from them a couple of months ago which I rung up and paid, and almost immediately started getting another invoice from them and chasing emails (I don't check emails all that...

    Fuel price tracker

Ordered some red last Friday afternoon from BFS, 67.7p, which they apologised would probably not be here until today unless I was desperate, but it came Monday morning anyway!

What type of engine oil for a Claas Mega Perkins 203?

Easy to do when you're swapping the good battery around to get things started in the morning.

Asda in trouble. Could the Gov step in?

Can you find non homogenised anywhere other than Tescos own brand gold top? Asda used to do a blue top, but stopped a couple of years ago. If I can, I get it from an on farm vending machine, but it's a 40 minute drive away so I only get that if I'm passing nearby.

    Imperial to metric.

If you've got a battery terminal nut that doesn't seem right for any other spanner, try a 1/4" British Standard Whitworth. I think that's the size they're meant to be.

    Imperial to metric.

That's the rim size, not the tyre.

    Combine men

And chop the inside row on the headland too if it's a nice easy flick of a switch for the chopper. I used to have a couple of people do that when I was round baling, which was a godsend 25 years ago when combine capacity and swath size was outpacing baler growth.

    Imperial to metric.

And somewhere on there it'll say 16.9-34 so that you know what you're getting! (Only on 85 profiles)

    Imperial to metric.

Railways still work in imperial, a lot of distances are measured in chains. Legend has it that the Jubilee underground line was designed in metric, as a nod to our recent joining of the European common market, and it was an absolute disaster, so they reverted back to working in miles, chains...

Asda in trouble. Could the Gov step in?

If they are in trouble one of the others will snap them up in no time.
