Combine driver tells trailer driver to drive at set speed (3.5k here, leaving enough capacity to speed up and slow down).... Trailer driver responsible for making sure it’s loaded centrally left to right, and combine driver fills back to front.... I personally drop first load in front to put...
I doubt you need the answer to this anymore but you need a whole tube of JD ‘corn head’ grease.... I have had plenty of trouble with this this gearbox the last few years!!!
Thanks Kevin, useful info. I'm after a reasonably simple mix and to qualify as a catch/cover cop for BPS I'll need one cereal and one non cereal - thinking phacelia, linseed, buckwheat and one of the clovers - would either do?
Morning all
Walking round the farm (not good for morale) and watching reasonable sized areas of ground fall foul to ponding, slug damage and other wet winter related issues, I am tempted to 'patch up' with cover or catch crops. Little to no experience of this method before so asking for advice...
Hi all, 2 x JD 2630 screens and 2 x SF 3000 receivers stolen this week from tractors near Rye in East Sussex.
Do not expect to see them again but a reminder for people to be vigilant before silly season arrives.
Has anyone had any experience of finding out where this stuff ends up? On the...
I have been drilling exclusively on our farm for 6 years, OSR with a combi drill, wheat and spring crops with a weaving tine drill.... for the first time ever I have no tramline f**k ups! Still plenty of drilling to do though- tramline misses or extra tramlines almost exclusively as a result of...
We have had the same in WW.... I was told last weekend that it is as a result of the plant dying, and not maturing/ripening naturally that the phosphate has not ‘travelled’ back through the plant and into the soil... whether or not this is actually what happens I don’t know!!
Had a substantial house and agricultural buildings fire here last year. Near total destruction apart from grain stores and machinery. NFU have been absolutely incredible from start to finish. Claim will drag on for over 2 years and end up costing goodness knows how many multiples of 7 figures...
Now our yield issues have been digested the next problem is Erucic acid levels are high- not rejectable but £10-13 claim. Sent 2 samples off and both similar levels, from 2 different fields with very different soil types.
Will have to suffer this for this year- we had full herbicide programme...
Should finish our OSR today and yields disappointing. Nice thick looking crop, clean, good pod counts, but seed is very small. Reckon we are down 20% on last year (which admittedly was a good year)
Slightly nervous about the winter wheat now which is still 10 days off being ready
Spring...
That’s the plan, leave everything on top, or within the top 10-15mm, and deal with volunteers now not in next years crop. No FYM available and don’t want anybody else’s black grass either!
Can’t see ring rolling making any difference at all.
Will sit tight and wait for some rain....
Hi all
We have started cutting OSR slowly but steadily and thought guys quickly turn to cultivations. Ideally we leave the OSR stubble to green up for 10-14 days, especially as we have started earlier than ever....
But wondering whether we need some rain first to make the cultivation more...
Got a 22 yr old MF 34 for sale here, been around the block a few times, 16ft power flow header, absolute gem of a machine just doesn’t cope with 600 acres anymore. Can’t say it’s in good condition but it works well and doesn’t need expensive software to diagnose and fix a problem, just a bit of...
