    Critical Mass

I watched a webinar a few months ago having submitted a couple of awkward questions. Having sat through a painful hour on the offchance one of my questions might be asked, I realised that these webinars are solely there to boost the egos of the participants. There wasn’t one single comment made...

I think you’re optimistic with 2150 but I suspect you imply that. "Carbon free/neutral" lol. A huge part of the problem is the completely random choices of 1.5 degC and 2050. Only in the world of politics and committees can such targets make any sort of "sense". Or indeed targets as a word make...

    Heating grants

Yeah, see my earlier post bout flipflopping. I know you’re always banging on about nuclear and I’ve largely come round to accepting that there really isn’t a realistic alternative now given the obsessive political/media parameter of carbon = bad. The parameter’s pretty stoopid but hey ho no one...

Heady days indeed. Markets always always overshoot though.

Moonboot on R2 no more livestock or farming!

Should place more emphasis on the word visit. Visiting somewhere is a long way from understanding and having genuine experience and knowledge of. He’s basically a reporter with a strong opinion of his own beliefs then rather than an open mind. Surprise.

I do sympathise, but that's not the oil/gas company, that’s the supply company. Most of us have had fun and games with those highwaymen. I get the anger but that’s why it’s such a popular policy among people looking for easy answers and quick fixes rather than long-term sensible policies. Call...

Moonboot on R2 no more livestock or farming!

Pretty sure animal eating has existed all over the world rather than just some places. How many crops do the Innuit grow and harvest after all? As pointed out already, they are a mobile long-term food storage unit. They don’t usually go off if they’re still alive. Freezers and the like make it...

    Heating grants

Well quite. It’s an easy tap in for them. Thing is, they should be above mindnumbingly easy cop out solutions. I believe they’ve stated that some of the money will come from the windfall tax and the rest from borrowing. So no mention of the increased VAT receipts then….

    Heating grants

You think it’s only war that’s caused energy prices to go up? It isn’t btw. Nothing wrong with helping people with some money, it doesn’t have to come from a windfall tax specifically. These companies will be paying a lot more tax this year anyway, that’s how the system works. For all companies...

But why pick that one industry when vast numbers of companies in other industries make obscene amounts of money too?

    Heating grants

It’s easy to be sceptical (and it’s my default position on all things tbh), it’ll barely be noticed by some people but it will ease the pain slightly for others, but only slightly. Govt won’t get a huge lot of credit in either camp. "It’s not enough". Or "what difference will it make?". What...
