labour planning to scrap agricultural property relief

Roll over relief is already available on any business asset. It has never just applied to agricultural land.

    Kramer hydraulic issues

No, we never resolved the issue with the delay in the tilt circuit. Kramer came out to it but fobbed me off, saying it was normal. I haven’t pursued it as only I drive it 90% of the time and I’ve got used to it. Don’t the side booms all have electrically controlled joysticks? If so, it might be...

    New holding numbers

No, it won’t matter. If there is no land with the house, you will just need a holding number for the block of land. It’s quite simple to do from your account once you’re set up for RPWOnline.

    New holding numbers

Go online and set up an RPWOnline account. You can then use the Manage My CPH section to set up a new holding number for any land you occupy solely.

Fodder Beet Through a Pan Mixer

Has anyone tried putting fodder beet through a pan mixer to wash and dispense it? It was suggested to me earlier. I’d have to borrow a mixer to try it, so just wondering whether I’d be wasting my time.

    REMOVING OLD WIRE FENCE

    What’s killing these lambs?

I’d say a bird. We’ve had ravens doing similar here.

Young Suckler Cow Down After A Hard Calving

A chap who keeps 500 suckers once told me that as long as they are righting themselves and on a good bed of straw/muck leave them alone, lifting them every day causes more harm than good. I tried it on the last cow we had down and it worked. She got up herself after a fortnight.

Is there any future in suckler cows ?

A P1 carcass with one of the major processors would be -150p off base.

    Nose fill drinkers for sheep?

This. We had a dozen JFC micro bowls with Opella valves in our sheep shed, which were constantly giving trouble. We changed all the valves to the brass type five years ago. They’ve worked perfectly ever since.

Sub letting land from tenant farmers

Does the Tenant’s agreement with the Landlord allow subletting? Most will not. If not, the landlord will get your crop if things go wrong.
