They look good. When do you envisage harvesting them?

    Potato Price Tracker

Just had test dig weights back. Really disappointed. Around 5t/ acre down on last year and lacking size. Crop was showing real promise 6 weeks ago. 30 mm of rain now might help the maincrop as they still have life but the second earlies are dead.Gonna need some decent prices to make up the...

    Potato Price Tracker

Just had a dig 2 weeks since the last one and the spuds have hardly moved. 25 mm of rain would make a huge difference but there's nothing in the forecast and we are getting closer to the date I like to be lifting. Do I gamble leaving the tops on for an extra 10 days and hope for a dry October...

    Potato Price Tracker

This was our situation last year. Pushing water through tramlines all season. And yet we had decent yields. This year was perfect growing weather after a late planting . Soil was never saturated but kept getting decent rain through June and early July. Since then we have missed every rain...

Low tuber numbers and no decent rain for the last 6 weeks will mean a lower than average yield here. Last 2 weeks have been so frustrating. Frequent light showers that have been enough to stop the combine but not enough to aid tuber bulking. And the constant winds have battered the haulm...

    Milling wheat variety change

I'll probably stick with Zyatt. Needed a T 1.5 this time but at least teb is cheap and cheerful. Keeping hoping for something else to move on to but nothing seems to be on the horizon.

Do you calculate your farm carbon footprint?

On the plus side my machinery adds very little to my carbon footprint as nearly everything is over 10 years old and gets written off at that point!

Do you calculate your farm carbon footprint?

Thank you I will be in touch. I haven't really got a lot of time to be doing it at this time of year tbh. It's more of a wet winter's day job. It's just that my red tractor inspection is this time of year. I'm fairly sure Leaf only want my ghg emissions from my energy usage so that was fairly...

Do you calculate your farm carbon footprint?

I'll put some of the details on when I get a chance. Currently working my way through the eleventy billion ridiculous questions in readiness for tomorrow's grilling by the mafia.

Do you calculate your farm carbon footprint?

Just tried to complete this as I had to work out my energy ghg emissions for a Leaf audit(which is a b s minefield in itself). I'm a small mixed farm with potatoes in the rotation. According to the calculator I produce 582 t of co2 per year and only sequester 29! How is any farm ever going be...

    General Election 2024

C4 worth watching just for the friction between Nadine Dorres and Alistair Cambell. I swear she's going to jump across that table and whack him.

    General Election 2024

Labour have spent the last few years campaigning for P R voting system. Bet they go quiet on that now. They also want to reform the house of Lords. Yeah, by kicking out all the old tories and getting their own cronies in.

    Electricity tariffs/Prices

Saw it on here somewhere so thought I'd better look into it. All fixed Scottish Power tarrifs only have the unit rate fixed. The standing charge can go up or down. My broker insists that's not true but conversations with 2 separate Scottish Power advisors have confirmed it. And it's in the...
