People have been trying for years to get them to change there approach it seems. Surely there must be Arla farmers on here who can lean on Arla to do something about this?
Mr Crotty wasn’t allowed the things he wanted in my local merchant when I was waiting to be served. Hence the sale of cows and machinery. They have to pay upfront now if they wants things
Would love to do it. My father tried to get 6 local farmers to do it after we saw the kiwis doing it and one of the sons would run it. As per usual for uk farmers non of them could agree 🙄
although I rib bald Rick on his love of machinery he is right. Not much good forage gets made anymore. Margins are tight and everyone’s in a rush to do it faster than ever with more cows in one spot. We are just as guilty. How we overcome that I’m not sure. Staffing it being the biggest issue.
its more that just a few tires or bags when your pits over 100metres long and takes 8 people a full day to sheet it and i think they just use side sheets
Where is the system in the UK up and running? And what about rodents?
Also how long does a cover last 10 years?
I enquired a few years ago about the cost and although expensive if you factored in the time of sheeting pits and buying the plastic and removal of the plastic over 10 years it made...
normal grazing ideas gone out the window here. Some fields still to wet, some grass too long, darent mow anything to reset in case we run out and going back into some fields after a week to try eat into the stubble if we can. What a spring
I personally know the guy who took the video. I drove past the farm in question today. Looked like lots of those orange evo shirts there trying to sort there mess out.
You a mate of mr rawson or something if you are then perhaps tell him it’s unacceptable.
I was also told by my vet that the...
There wasn’t any, because no one at that company even cares anymore. Don’t see why I should carry there cables across my land when they couldn’t even be bothered to connect me to the fibre that runs past the end of my drive
I got so fed up with BT/Openreach I fitted starlink on the farm and a 4G/5G backup.
Cut down every single BT pole on the farms and dug through one of there fibre cables that crosses my land just to pee them off. How are we suppose to run businesses when they behave how they do
thank god for...
Well today was finally the day
To be able to milk cows on your own farm really is a great feeling. Been a long hard winter but this has made it all worth it
I’ll try and take some better pictures at some point
