Tesco to close the Butchers & Deli counter

I believe its down to cost and profit. Things like the deli and bakery are just loss leaders. The same space in fridges and shelves make far more money with less staff / training and equipment costs. I worked for tesco for a long time and they removed our deli during a refit. Shelves made a...

Future of farming - will vegansim reshape our industry?

Assuming i decide to save the planet and cull all my livestock to save the planet, what about all the horsey people? There must be a fair amount of land / equipment etc wasted on horses. Using statistics can prove anything. But if theres no livestock of any kind other than the odd zoo the...

Tractor hire rates outside of Agriculture

I would agree with this. If its just to drag a trailer about you dont need anything fancy or expensive

Show us your David Brown Tractor!

Not to sure on weight. We dont have a counter weight so tend to tip before loader struggles. Its pretty useful though

Show us your David Brown Tractor!

Its very usefull for getting into uncomfortable situations. Got a bit cocky with a round silage bale once. Took an awful long time for the back wheels to hit the ground again

    Paddock topper

We have a cheap chinese one at work for topping horse paddocks. Does a really good job and well worth having. Petrol engine with button start. Would have thought one of those wessex ones would be a good buy

    what grinds your gears

Not a drop of rain here for two months. So why are there so many tractor drivers driving like twunts? Saw a tractor and bailer speed through a small village 10mph over limit and well over white line. Missed a few cars by inches

    Classics Earning their keep.

Contractor got let down and only had one tractor for hay cart. So the trusty ford 4000 got called on. She didnt enjoy the heat but got the job done!

    Shocking facebook message threatening farmers

I find posts like that amusing. Feel free to pop round to the farm and say that kinda thing. Then we will find out who the snowflake is.

    Unused land.

There is a patch of land near me roughly half an acre with a few old falling down sheds but with a couple of half decent small hay barns. One barn has a fair amount of rotting hay in it. It would be a really useful area for me and a step towards full time farming. Ive got to track down the...
