Had some rolling to do this evening, so hooked up a friends MH 744 that I had in the workshop. Perkins P6 sounding sweet pulling the 6t pair of concrete filled rollers!
Yes you are right, I have a couple of 8ft ones weighing 3t each. I modified the frame of one of them to be able to use them as a pair. Takes some dragging at 6t, but they make a cracking job
Looking for a vintage trailed cultivator to use at working days behind my old tractors. Similar to the pic below.
Does anyone have one lurking in a barn/hedge somewhere?
South west would be ideal but can travel.
Thanks.
As you have noticed there is no ram stop on the Welgers.
Why did the shearbolt break? Are you sure that's what caused the needles to be left in the chamber?
I only ask as we had something similar with our 730 some years ago. The spring loaded dog on the RHS of the knotter stack that is released...
Another thumbs up for Acres, moved to them this year after they were able to beat the renewal quote from previous insurer. Great, quick service from Kevin.
Choke will make the mixture more rich so it will run but probably not very well under load if you have limited fuel flow.
Another option, it could be drawing excess air and weakening the mixture. Check all gaskets and seals and the intake manifold itself for air leaks
If it will only run with the choke out, it would indicate a lack of fuel flow to the carb. Perhaps a blocked tap on the bottom of the tank, or sediment bowl strainer mesh?
730 is a different animal to a 630, heavier duty frame and no shear bolt on the flywheel. Huge difference in output due to the size of the throat. Had a 730 here since new in 1990, been a fantastic machine and has done a huge amount of work.
I have baled straw behind a 40ft header a few times...
I bought this set, used it quite a few times now and very pleased with it

Wife has a 2015 V40 D3 for a few years now. Nice motor, 55mpg is perhaps more realistic. Only complaint is the electronic oil level sensor, caused us some problems not reading properly after its last service, dipstick would be handy!
Took the old major out this afternoon, the rollers are a pair of concrete filled Kidd 8ft which tip the scales at over 6t, so they take some pulling even in a flat field!
I have a 5f LS95, which is the shearbolt equivalent. Good plough.
Having 95cm interbody clearance, compared to the standard 85cm, makes it good in trash. On the flipside this makes it a long plough that is quite heavy on the tractor, even more so with auto reset.
The "S" denotes vari width...
