Sheep can be character building but when you have a problem its usually easy to sort or it's dead. with a cow it's a big problem usually. I find them worse than sheep in that way. But I still like cows 😁
Put a Romney over them. I used to use my ewe lambs half brothers on tjem for years just pick out some then lleyn ram lambs and use tjem then finish them.
Tried Charmoise they were good I thought, if a bit bare, so went back to using my own mongrel shedder ram lambs again this time. So far so...
Sounds harsh but I leave them alone in a small field where they don't have to walk far for anything and they have all (well the 3 or 4) have recovered well.
I used to try splinting them and it never set properly or the bandages caused more problems than the break.
A ewe broke her leg before...
This came up on my Snapchat memories yesterday. I was trying to iodine the calf as well I ended up dragging it through the barrier with a crook where she couldn't reach 😬
Yeah she will have an infection. We seem to get them since we started lambing outside I've stitched 3 this year. They must pick a dirty corner to lamb in or something. Don't ever remember getting more than the odd one every few years when lambing inside though.
We started because we would spend half the day arguing whoever had been out all night was in a very bad mood the next day 😬🤦 especially me because if there was anything that involved manhandling sheep I would have to do it and it would just be 'do this, do this, do this' all bloody day you can...
Forgot to reply to this.
When we lambed inside and dad was still able to help we used to do every other night lambing for a bit. It was miserable for everyone because we were both always tired especially me because i was the only one that could do a lot of the harder jobs especially outside...
I leave those in a pen with their dead lamb to skin when it's gone dark and I can't see to go round the fields. Makes a long day though not sure why I bother really maybe habit and just feels like your doing the right thing 🤷
I've gotten quite good at that by now 😉 I don't think there is a name yet though 🤔 maybe they know me by now 🙃
At least they aren't asking for a horse.
Ffs kids have noticed that the lamb is a girl and now they want to keep it. Just what we want a runt from a single that didn't have enough milk for it 🙄
Really didn't think this through 🤦
