    Quad bike Vs gator/mule

For sheep quad every time. Can’t see a Gator would be any better than me old Hilux on an agri plate. But I am in East Anglia so don’t see the weather some of you boys do. And it is flat here too.

    People and dogs again...

I can only say that in my experience the police could not have been better, yes they checked I had a shotgun certificate but I would expect that. They asked me what I was going to do with the dog and I said it was not my property and the owner needed to collect it, they asked how much...

When can a vet, not our vet, come on our land without permission?

Went to see them, gave them my number, didn't give them a bottle of wine though!!! They were alright with me. They just have this reputation of being trouble makers. And I have a flu bug so everything seems hard work. I think I will get some tag numbers over the next couple of weeks, cull prices...

When can a vet, not our vet, come on our land without permission?

Just had an odd one and hopefully someone can shed light on our rights. I have a 150 ewes about three miles away that keeps getting cast. They are with the tups and will be moved onto brassicas next week when the tups come out. However the landowner has just called to say a vet who lives about...

    Sheep worrying outcome

It was comment, intended to be smiled at (as indicated by the smiley face) that only on TFF can a thread move from a serious to a less serious point in less than a page of replies.

    Sheep worrying outcome

Only on TFF can a serious (and positive) post on 'sheep worrying outcome' move to being hijacked by the Sid James fan club in only 16 replies!:)

    NRL shearlings.

I would be perfectly happy buying lowland bred ewe lambs in late summer from anyone who doesn't want the hassle of turning them into shearlings, with the option to kill at any point the price of meat or cashflow dictates. I don't see that as hard work at all.

    Dogs training ducks

A dog trainer once told me you need all male runners otherwise things get complicated. They never expanded on that statement and I never asked! Just thought I would throw that out there.:)

Muck value in straw for muck?

I guess it depends what area you are in but muck for straw is of equal value here. But. All straw moving and muck clearing and spreading is down to the individual agreement, sometimes it is down to the cattle owner and sometimes the arable side. I would think with the way fertiliser prices have...

    Kelvins big farm adventure

I think you have pretty much summed up British farming right there.

Cover crop graze or plough in

So which is the best option financially? Have someone eat it off and leave some poo then avoid the cost of ploughing and just disc it? Or run a 200hp tractor burning 20 litres of fuel an hour to top then plough? I'm a bit surprised that at the end of January you don't have a plan when you are...
