    Cows have to be out!

Last 2 bales of silage. Everything out tomorrow and just keep my fingers crossed. My phone keeps giving me "memories" of spring the last 5+ years when it was bone dry this time 😭

    Share Farming. Can it work?

Yes im working my way through with them just now. As you can there are lots more people wanting an opportunity than actual opportunities. What I've found the issue so far is any potentials are not that keen once the opportunity has been offered. It is 100% about finding the right person which at...

Any options on longer? Can't see that beaten for low usage. How much are you using roughly?

    Turnout day ...

Ha I just showed a good bit on a nice day. I just pretend the bad bits don't exist and will get turned over when dry enough. Like I say think the key to out wintering is not too look to hard.

    Turnout day ...

35 cows been out all winter. Sacrifice part of field and reckon saved a fair whack in straw this winter. No shed space either. Just gotta not look to hard on the wet days but they are enjoying the good ones.

    Electricity tariffs/Prices

Just had similar run in with Bionic roo auto renewing for me with 6 months to go. Thankfully saw the email in my junk folder and gave them some grief over it and got them to cancel the auto renew. It was going to be fixed at similar prices but I'm hoping in 6 months time it should have come down...

    Which farm excavator?

Would anyone know what size of digger would be needed to lift a silage bale into a ring feeder? So that would be 1000kg+ plus grab. Would an 8T be up to the job?

    Heat detection collars

Liked the look of the smaxtec system when I've looked previously for the positives you mention. Can you give me an idea on current cost. PM if you wish. Thanks

    Are Bale Unrollers any good

Chainless can only feed out one side is about the only drawback but very simple. Use mine for "manually" bedding also where I unroll lines of round bake straw them walk down and spread with a fork - easy work as its light and fluffy. Did try a couple of squares but they were bricks and didn't...

    Weaning spring born calfs.

Think it's just for ease of management tbh. Some cows will certainly wean early and some later but hard to tell what's going on when bigger groups. What age do yours usually wean at/how far before calving?
