Horizon DSX manages better penetration with far less weight which is important. Been there and done that with beans on heavy clay comparing both drills. Closes the slot much better as well. Penetration and closing is the disadvantage for vertical design openers.

Temperature could be a factor. Where there is no trash it has germinated much better. Although, the soil may have been cold at the time of the drilling, but definitely it was not wet and basically no rain since drilled.
