Well I’m going to try it! I mentioned on another thread that I could meet the aims of ahl2 tight in behind winter barley (maybe autocast seed at harvest) then spray off in March, then drill num3, wheat in autumn. If the system lets me apply num3 next January on that same parcel I’ll do it, if...

I believe that it should be possible to meet the aims of both. Upon annual update at the end of year 1 I’ll see if the system allows it!

Such a shame that they’ve pulled out the market here. I think it’s a great truck, comfortable, good fuel economy and (so far) reliable. I’ll be hanging onto mine for a while.

Exactly! Less work for us and our machines, less space required to store crops, less expensive fertiliser and pesticides to pay for a year in advance and less stress all over!

To be fair they recommended 20kg/ha. For an almost identical mix, Kings recommended 15kg/ha so that’s what I’m going to try this spring. This year’s NUM3 is on 90% light land so germination ought to be high.

I support my local seed company … T. Denne & sons from Ashford, Kent. Just over £5/kg. I did order 1.5t though!

Yes … if the system allows you to do that on next year’s application. I’d prefer NUM3 if it lets me do it!

That would be 2 years out of production and I’m looking to use it as a break crop and follow with wheat. The other problem I’ve found with the old ab9 is that sow thistle takes over in year 2!

From my local supplier it works out at around £80/ha. Similar margin to a 5t/ha crop of spring oats but with less work and, in my opinion, a better entry for wheat next autumn.

At those prices you either home save or bung it into sfi. I’m going for legume fallow and have already ordered the seed.
