Huntaways are as loyal as dogs get. They hate to disappoint which makes the training/noise control easier if you put the time in early on.
They can be taught to head but lack the speed to really get around a mob, will do in a pinch though.
First few hundred Ha's it dragged a little off kilter. The rows end up like this. ll ll ll ll ll Once the seed boots wear a little it will pull straight.
6m, I only needed to extend 4 for each side. I could have gotten away with 3 but worried about hoses pulling off of the seeding units. The joiners are standard accord joiners brought from our local KV dealer. I can't recall what they cost but it didn't break the bank.
It's a simple job. 2-3 hours. A heat gun and some Accord hose joiners make it easy.
We also took the opportunity to put the hoses on in the correct order 1-18.
I just run the front gang at the shallow setting. I couldn't devise an easy way to lower the back separately.
As @kiwi said it is common practice for us to grow Autumn Wheat following a 2 year white clover seed crop. This was drilled two days ago with a 750a.
These are photos of last years crop
Our biggest issue is pests. Slugs are a nuisance but controllable with heavy stock pressure and pellets...
I can't comment really as I have only just purchased the drill. The local dealer said they have found it to be better with the weight spread over both mounts.
The kit I brought was only oxy/lpg. I remember using a torch like that in metal shop a fair while back. It would be useful to have a straight lpg torch for when the oxygen ran out.
Correct on the Teages salesmen. The one guy that would talk to me knew nothing about their new micrometers...
Brought a BOC kit through Taeges a couple of years ago. Keith had a few to spare after we organised young farmer of the year. It uses oxygen as well as lpg but can be used as straight lpg heat. I'll get some specs when I'm at the yard tomorrow.
Sorry I should have done the Google image search before posting rather than right now! We demo'd a Duncan AS6000 when they were first being developed. A great machine, just overpriced at the time. You look to have built a improved version at what I expect to be a reduced price. Congratulations
