When the arms reach their bottom limit they are definitely stopping against hydraulic pressure rather than something mechanical. The additional rocker switch connects to the wiring look using a proper connector and the mudguard have just been unplugged.

It does look like something has broken off the other side and yes it does say faster on the edge.
