Manufacturers & dealers have messed it up

When they've grown as fast as they have in the last few years it does make you wonder

Manufacturers & dealers have messed it up

Some dealers are trying a new business model. I see both Ripon Farm Services and Russells are advertising the first of many small online auctions

    Claas Tractor Specialist

If you're near Yorkshire there's Jacksons Motor Engineers at Ripon. They used to be Renault dealers and have carried on as a Claas tractor specialist. They turn over a few second hand ones too

    Farmforce Ultra tilth

When we had a demo of the ultra tilth, they sent us a 3m 6 leg one. We lifted the outside two legs up a couple of holes and drove a bit narrower. We did have it on a fully weighted valtra t130, and she pulled it fine. Was a bit of a hand full travelling and on headlands but it coped ok. It...

    Farmforce Ultra tilth

We're on fairly heavy land and was running a five leg 2.5 m ultra tilt with 160 on the front of it. If anything it was more lacking grip than power. Ours was still running on the original legs and shear pin. The shear pins I had to get made up as they were a unique size. The legs or more...

    Sheep stolen

Seem to be a speight of sheep thefts reported in our area, only an odd one or two missing from a field. Usually older ewes A friend only noticed two of his were missing when he went to treat a specific old girl and she'd vanished then he had a count up. Then you hear about men in a van or...

    Which Drill?

A 3m Vaderstad rapid will do all you require but it can be a bit heavy on wearing parts especially if it's very stoney

    Case vs Claas

They should both have the same engines in them, so they shouldn't be much difference in reliability. I've never driven a claas vario but I know the cvx is easy to drive and reliable. And the latest cab and controls are streets ahead of what came before. There seems to have been quite a few...

    John Deere T670i combine

Unless it's really hard to thrash I'd slow your drum speed, run ours between 800 and 900 quite happily. I'd also open up the bottom sieve up abit. Open it up one combine a bit if the sample is still good repeat until it starts getting too dirty for you then close it back up one I'd be aiming...

    another one gone

Think new holland are going to end up with 5 or 6 dealers serving the whole country the way things are going. Whether that's a good thing that remains to be seen

Is the “Heyday” period of contract farming coming to an end.

It's well and good until the government need some more money for the civil servant pensions and payoffs. They won't give any long term guarantees the payments or agriculture budget are safe

Who can tell me about JD459

Try baler spares, we needed a new sweeper arm for ours and a few other little bits and pieces. The lad that looked after it ordered the bits from the dealer. When it was delivered the delivery sheet had the prices on think the bare arm was over 500 then with the other bits on top it was nearly...

    T6080 vs T7200

You could also look at a Case Puma 155 essentially the same tractor underneath, and usually these were higher spec than the new hollands

    T6080 vs T7200

The 6080 will feel strangled compared to a T7.200 our 6080 ended up getting a black box on it to make it feel as powerful as the tm150 that it replaced. Depending on the spec the biggest difference is the T7 could have the electric armrest and nicer joystick

    Blatant profiteering by SAC consulting

Well it's like anything else that attracts a subsidy payment. Somebody wants their share of it. When you got extra sub on cattle the processors dropped the price, then you got money on certain items of equipment and now you can get money for services and that's shot up.
