Are “90 days” payment terms common in farming.

Money Claim Online is a brilliant service for chasing money. Cheap, easy form filling and in my experience effective. If they don't engage with the court process then they have lost straight away and you can then request a baliff pay a visit. If they have a County Court Judgement registered...

    12 m tramlines

Get rid of that Vicon asap! They are seriously inaccurate, both spread pattern and application. Perhaps ok for a few meadows, but have no place in cropping. Lots of quite simple Bogballe/KRM about, stretch to a weigh cell version and you'll love it.

Who knows?! Just cover your needs at a price that leaves you a margin.

How to fix oversensitive brakes on Marston Ace trailer?

Yes, hydraulic brakes. Basic simple system with no load sensing. I thought the tractor brake valve was proportional, i.e. caress the brake pedal and a little bit goes down the brake pipe, stomp on it and full pressure applied. I'll have a drum off, but it's all pretty new and low mileage, can't...

How to fix oversensitive brakes on Marston Ace trailer?

The brakes on my 12t Marston Ace grain trailer are hypersensitive, locking up at the slightest touch on the brake pedal when empty. It doesn't matter which tractor (and my neighbour has exactly the same issue with the same make of tractor and trailer). Adjusting the rams doesn't make any...

Can you beat plough and combi on small acreage?

If what you are doing works for you on your soils then keep doing it! Don't be seduced by the noise around "minimal cultivations", most of them are anything but minimal, they involve huge horse power and expensive kit and end up parked if it's a bit wet. Profit is your friend (especially...

    Isn't farming 10 farms a bit greedy?

    Sprayer filling protocols

Lots of good ideas. Two more things; If you do have part cans, write on the can the remaining volume and put the cap back on. A bit more complicated...........I park the sprayer alongside the spray shed and turn the engine off. Then fill from a Granni pot type venturi mixer that's in the shed...

How many years before all SFI schemes scrapped.

The farm gate price of all the outputs from mainstream UK agriculture is on the floor. This demonstrates that there isn't any shortage of supply. SFI (theoretically) will reduce that supply, increasing prices. Therefore we should all support SFI, take the "free" money while it's there. You...

Spray contractor hasnt triple washed containers

I get your thinking, but shaking the can then puts chemical on the foil. If you are using a complete can then don't shake it, the can wash should clean the can inside perfectly. Intake plumbing should be done in a way that allows can washing with clean water.

Hares, can you have to many?

Always had some around but then the buzzard numbers increased dramatically and didn't see any for years. For the first time for perhaps 20 years I'm starting to see some around, it's always a pleasure to see them lolloping about. There are fewer buzzards about at the moment, don't know why...

Interested in buying a farm - no experience

Make sure your close relationships are solid, there will be considerable stress. Going farming isn't a way to reset relationships.
