Thankfully there is a reliable and competitive ethnic market at home and in Europe that takes a growing proportion of our sheep meat

Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

Last year's trade was exceptional, there were a few factors that culminated into the perfect storm that made Hoggs so dear. Store lamb buyers probably know this more than most they will look at global trends and situations that effect these things. The lamb Job has jumped £20 a head across the...

That weight doesn't come for free. If you have fit ewe lambs at 46-48kg this time of year they are at their potential. They will die in the 20-22kg mark and hopefully grade well it's knocking around £140. Those lambs in a market weighed first thing would be 44-45 @2.9ish is £130 plus more...

    Hogg feeders

I bought two advantage 1800hd feeders for £1400 about 6 months ago second hand. Haven't got the inclination to use them as there intended purpose but for the money they make cheap creep feeders. Local dealer quoting £1400 for a Watson creep.

We buy a few thousand store lambs. They are all dipped regardless of what you are told by the vendors, the consequences of chancing it far outweigh a blanket policy on dipping everything. As for moving sheep post dipping in a trailer it would be a absolute no go for us. Dipping is the most...

Silage / Straw / Hay Price Tracker

We are in Wales so not really the same extent of options for sfi etc but I could lay my hand on any amount of hay/silage/standing grass. It's been a good growing time but there definitely isn't the amount of cows etc about these days to keep on top of the grazing. Say this now and next year we...
