Are some of these over winter cover crops actually any better than a well established autumn crop of cereals ? I know that won’t have the diversity of species (could be done with companions) but it does provide a living root and an effective nutrient sink without the hassle, cost and...
If you are doing 750 hours per year you can’t afford downtime. 5000 hours soon becomes 6 then 7000 and with that repairs. Look at a long warranty to give you a known cost and peace of mind. Make sure it is transferable as if you need to get out of it, it will make it more saleable.
Are you still using the Optrx sensors ? I just wondered how you use them, ie are they on the front of a tractor with a spreader on, or on a sprayer doing liquid, how many sensors you use and what modelling system it uses to determine rates. Thanks.
Yield maps and soil sample maps aren’t quite the same issue. If you are yield mapping someone else's fields then you have 100% of the hardware cost and no payback. Unless specified you are only being paid to harvest the crop. The only payback you can get on the extra kit required is to charge...
Does anyone know if there is going to be an option for using the 2 metre cross compliance margins currently used for hedgerow protection (and ditches) ?
They would appear to be a very important part of environmental stewardship nationally that could get pulled up if the correct incentive to...
Is anyone using an Agleader Incommand autosteer setup on a self propelled sprayer to accurately steer round field headlands ? We have the boundaries accurately mapped but need to be able to drive very accurately round the fields. Also how good is the line acquisition when turning at the...
Easy to use and stock don’t necessarily go hand in hand. You have either be very accurate or it has to have an easy way to reconcile it. Or several ways to reconcile it depending on how you want to do it. The simplest programme may appeal initially but it may leave you frustrated further down...
85% of the AHDB funding comes from farmers. How many of these want digital grain passports, what will be the cost of this, how much of it will be paid by farmers and what will be the payback of this initiative to growers in pounds spent to pounds returned ?
I’m sure APH could decide if they want to charge for their advice over the phone. Main thing is that someone in the clart at a tough time of the year has been given a heads up on how to get sorted.
