Thanks for that. We pit about 400 tons in 2 clamps , but I don`t understand how adding water to it after its passed through the rollers can eliminate the whole grains ?.
I`m not blaming the cattle. I just wondered if other crimp feeders had the same problem. Don`t think its stones in the grain because we're not on stoney land. It might be worn rollers although the contracter had the fluted sort, don`t know if there better ?. The s/barley crop last year was...
As title says. Any body feeding Crimp ?. We had the same problem last year, only worse. It was dryer though, about 25% moisture. This year it averaged 35%, but still too many whole grains in the muck. About a small handful in a passing. Seem such a waste, although cattle are doing well . TIA.
We`ve got a chance of a Demo in the next few weeks, and just wondering if the extra hassle of sheeting and resheeting clamps between cuts outweighs the extra quality of cutting much younger grass. Just trying to use much less grain for fattening cattle. We cut mainly PP once atm.
We`ev got a couple of those fitted sheets, you need to make a bit of a pyramid to stop the water pooling, or the rats will have a drink! Not to sure about pallets though, might encourage them.
