24 row Erth drill versus 32row direct drills

Was looking last year at this exactly and our seed rep had bought the 24 row a couple of years earlier and he said go for the 32row. Ended up taking the plunge for the 32row and wouldn't go for anything else. Done 190acres from July to September with it and all grew bloody tremendous. Burn off...

    Which round baler ?

After reading this thread thought id ask folks opinions. Looking at getting a round baler, a Krone v150xc plus is currently top of the list even though we never managed to demo one. Also up there are Mchale and Massey which we managed to demo both. Tried a Vicon and made very nice bales but the...

    Digestate

Taking your point there into consideration do you think it might be worth putting a half rate on the grazing grassland and then a larger rate on the land that will be going into wholecrop and forage rape.

    Digestate

That certainly gives me some confidence in trying it if that's what It can do

    Digestate

AD plant stuff. What goes in it I couldn't tell you without ringing up and finding out but I think I might now looking at all these comments.

    Digestate

Possibly have chance of putting some digestate on some much poorer land we have. Heard from lots of people that's it's rocket fuel and then some horror stories. My main question is what will/might it do to poorer land? The land is mostly permanent pastures with 20ac of meadows that have been...

Leveling rigg and furrow in a field

Thanks for all the replies. Ploughing definitely seems the option most people suggest but I don't plan on ploughing it at all so I can keep the more productive soil ontop as I know what is underneath is anything but. My current thinking is to spray it off then get a simba x press or something as...

Leveling rigg and furrow in a field

Got a 5-6acre grassland meadow that's Rigg and furrow. Not massive ones but are very close together so can be a pain to mow and tends to leave it a bit long in the bottom. What have people done to level them out ideally without ploughing, thinking heavy disks or something along them lines but...

    GPS on a Budget

@Andy26 is the man for AOG. Was very helpful when I was asking about them. Found a second hand trimble to do my job but was very keen on the AOG and FJD if your looking.

I always thought base stations only covered 10 miles reliably.

    GPS on a Budget

Main block being the farm is 10 mile north of one block. Then another block is 10 miles east of the farm and next one a further 20miles. Last block is just used for cropping.

    GPS on a Budget

Have 4 blocks of land of our own all a decent distance away from the farm and hoping to expand into some direct drilling contracting so not sure if the base stations would be the best option. Looked at trimble rangepoint which is upto 15cm but would think it would run closer than that most of...

    GPS on a Budget

I'll have to look further into it. Rtk 2.5cm would be more than I require bit still the cheaper option if I can get it cheaper I'll try.

    GPS on a Budget

I'll have to have a look at the nav 500. Just spoke to the reps about what i wanted and that's what they both suggested. Not sure if the 500 has the ability to keep it accurate on slopes which there's plenty of round here but I know the 900 does. Think the motor will be more of a pain than its...

    GPS on a Budget

Both quotes are from trimble reps. 2 different companies. Priced up the 350 screen with ezi steer Pro wheel and nav 900 receiver. Also asked for a price of the next screen up and that is significantly more. Prices both include fitting to a non guidance ready tractor. May have to ask the Case...

    GPS on a Budget

Yes I plan on continue using it after the first 12 months and don't think I require the full rtk accuracy. 10-15cm would do me. Like the idea of a base station but with land all over can't see it working out cheaper as would need about 4.

    GPS on a Budget

So I've had a look at the Agopen since your comment and I'll be honest confuses me. New to this whole gps beyond a light bar. Would such as yourself be able to fit it into the tractor and run me through how to use it. And what's it like on modern tractors that aren't guidance ready.

    GPS on a Budget

Had 2 quotes for trimble with the ezi-steer and all that and both are in the region of 7500-9500. That's fitted onto a none autosteer ready tractor but that's why I put this post up looking what else is out there.

    GPS on a Budget

Looking at getting a GPS for drilling but not one that cost a fortune. Wanting it to have some sort of autosteer or assisted steering. What's out there and people's thoughts on them. Cheers in advance.

    Grassland Direct Drill

Looking at getting a 32 row as seems more use for grass. Was just wondering if we needed to look at some front weights for the tractor.
