We're discussing a couple of options with marts that are setting up online timed auctions for livestock so we'll see if anything comes of that but @Dave W is absolutely right - it's all the stuff that always seems to find a home at a sale that's most problematic!
Leyburn held our sheep sale. I did have half a thought about whether any auction would run a sort time limited bidding process and stuff could be advertised in a catalogue on their website - and advertised well. I'm just not sure what could be possible but the viewing day by appointment is a...
We held our flock dispersal on farm in September and were due to have the on farm sale of everything from the tractors down to spanners etc. in April - your typical farm sale really. Well obviously that was cancelled and it doesn't look like we'll be able to hold it before we need to leave...
Sorry, no backside shots but I've got a few of his gimmers which I took in June/July - they were born in April so look at little small compared to now! His lambs off our texel x ewes look like a decent sort of continental mule if that makes sense! We're looking for £600 ono.
I'll just see if I have any - he was hard to photograph, especially from behind! I found them very easy lambing due to their shape but didn't try any ewe lambs. Although he is very big I would think they would be ok.
2 shear Fronteira ram for sale, due to flock dispersal.
One of the top priced examples bought direct from Logie Durno last year.
A maternal sire, bred from the Texel & Blue faced Leicester, capable of producing strong gimmers.
Home-bred Texel x Fronteira gimmers (late April born) sold for...
Thank you! It's been an incredibly long week and difficult, especially today. I am officially shattered and refusing to lift a finger for the rest of the evening!
I really liked that pen too, strong sheep 50/50 texel beltex if i remember correctly off the top of my head. I hope they do well...
Thank you everyone. We know it's the right decision but doesn't make selling the sheep any easier! We're probably a bit too soft about our sheep, and will really miss the ladies. I'm hoping as well as fetching a fair price, they end up in good homes and will be well looked after, and will do...
It's been quite a while since I last posted on here, or took part in any threads. It's been a difficult time (for various reasons which I don't need to go into) in 2019, resulting in the decision to sell our stock, give notice on the farm and leave farming. I've just spent some time putting...
Saturday 21st September. Sale starts at 11.30am.
On farm flock dispersal sale for JF & PMC Milner, Bales Farm, Healey, Ripon, North Yorkshire, HG4 4NH.
Sale conducted by Leyburn Auction Mart.

Strong, prolific ewes, capable of producing top quality fat...
We used cidrs and pmsg this year on 100 ewes approximately 3 weeks before they would begin to cycle naturally. 84 in lamb with at least 1 tup per 10 ewes. All lambed within 5 days.
I'm very interested in this as we know from milk sampling cases that we do have problems with S. Aureus. I wonder how much it is? I see it has to be given 5weeks before lambing then 3 weeks after that for the primary course. Wonder if that is OK if also giving Hep P? Hmmm, need a conversation...
What evidence is needed for maintenance and calibration of the fertiliser spreader? I can see it is a new standard but unsure how to prove it's been done. Anyone? We're just FABBL.
