    Combinables Price Tracker

You make a good point, but is it not a better point, that selling at well over £250 was obvious due to the good price alone, especially given very high fert prices and growing costs. It was hard to shift wheat this time last year following assumed lower stocks, last year's harvest was bigger so...

    Spring barley looking poor...

A lot of the world use direct drilling as it is cheap and the only option to cover a mass acreage where yields are low. Yields are not normally low in Western Europe with our normal temperate climate. Normally we have sufficient rainfall post sowing to maintain our crops, and no matter what...

    Spring barley looking poor...

It is not because you ploughed wet down, it is more that by ploughing you aerated a severely rain compacted top couple of inches of soil. A couple of inches that through 6 months of heavy rainfall had lost plenty of it's nutrients, by ploughing you brought more to the surface, mineralised N and...

    Fendt or Fastrac

That’s great that you can on a NH, like I said other tractor brands have caught up. Nothing wrong with innovation and couldn’t agree more about a 724 when things get interesting. Just doesn’t have the ability to grip on really steep hills and transfer all of its power with a trailed machine. If...

    Fendt or Fastrac

Yes I know it was crazy of Theo Leeb to design a trailed sprayer that worked so well behind a domestic tractor brand that has a market share of approx 40% in Germany in the 201-300hp sector. Even more of a disaster to design a sprayer that integrated so well with a tractor with a fully...

    Self propelled to Trailed

That is an older machine with Muller electrics. I would imagine that hours sprayed, means the same as on the newer Horsch software, ie. hours spraying, means when you are actually spraying and does not mean field hours nor total hours. If you like its average spot rate, not including turning...

    Fendt or Fastrac

Is that a serious question? If so then ignorance on your behalf. I am sure nearly all farmers' have driven a teleprorter (whatever that is) but assuming you mean a tele-handler. I believe the OP was asking a serious question about a tractor to pull a large trailed Horsch. We are talking a...

    Fendt or Fastrac

Having owned and operated 4 Bateman's, all 4WS SP machines and still run multiple JCB loadalls, I am well aware of the benefits of 4WS. How long have you owned or run a trailed Horsch sprayer? Trust me the turning circle of a Fastrac on wide tyres is shyte compared to a Fendt. The maths is...

    Fendt or Fastrac

Andrew, do you have the turning circle figures for the Fastrac on the wider tyres, typical to those used on larger Fendts or JD’s. Perhaps even the smaller 600/70R 30’s someone must have the figures, perhaps more difficult for 710’s.

    Fendt or Fastrac

Fendt don't quote on row crops. I'll find a quick example, page 14. fendt_vario_800_new_generation_tractors_brochure_january_2010.pdf

What is the turning circle of a Fastrac on 650 or 710 tyres?

    Fendt or Fastrac

Not correct a JCB 4220 has a turning circle of 9.8m on 540 R30's, Fendt 724 on its standard tyres of 540/65 R30 and 650/65 R42 has inner turning circle of 5.5m, as its 2.55m wide the rest can be worked out...... In fact a 828 is 5.4m. I am not sure there are many people who would choose to pull...

    Fendt or Fastrac

That is the point, what use is 235hp tractor on 540 30" wheels all year round, might as well buy a self propelled sprayer. I am not sure why people like to bash Fendt's. The reason why JCB don't put 38" 710's on 4ws steer Fastrac is that it would make the turning circle worse than a 724, 828...

    Fendt or Fastrac

Definitely buy a Fendt and I would suggest a 800 or 900, as road speed on both are 65kph. If you have any hills then a 724, despite the Hp, is no good at pulling/grip. Turning circle on the Fendt's is far superior to a 4ws Fastrac. Folk may comment about the trend of Fendt's and Horsch trailed...

Self propelled or Mounted .....Transport Box

@An Gof You really do need to get front linkage, then you can save money and go mounted. Wood is best to for our maritime climate to avoid the costly rust in your earlier pic. Can confirm that Vario-grip and 390hp is enough in case you are worried. Front linkage is key as it free's up the rear...

Anybody NOT t2-ing, t1-ing etc because of frosts

I think trace elements such as you advocate are very beneficial in a dry spring, well from our experience anyway. If you can just maintain a few tillers etc, you never know when the weather changes. I wouldn't worry about whether you sound like a supply agronomist, better than sounding like...

OSR crops looking shorter than normal on the Cotswolds?

Why do you lend your face to BASF adverts? Does anyone care, why tag yourself in videos to Fendt UK or @Michelin on Twatter! I think you need to lay off the crack yourself and realise that most farmers are genuinely pretty humble creatures and modest about their achievements and have a deep...
