If this turns out to be true - (not doubting anyone but cautious of trial by social mediathen anything less than arla throwing them to the wolves would be a disgrace.
We hear time and time again how important the arla brand is and to allow them to continue to supply it makes a mockery of it...
Spare cash has got to be fairly high up on the list. Lots of things can be solved by having that liquidity to move quickly. It’s also exhausting trying to juggle bills or knowing you have a situation that could be solved with a small investment but are unable to do it.
10k an acre. Assuming you have nothing to put forward and need to borrow it all and that your not averaging over more acres puts the interest alone at £800 a year.
Equivalent to 4-8 years rent locally….
Obviously doesn’t allow for inflation eroding it as the value increases you hope
This is turning into a bit of a witch hunt but to cover something @frederick covered in a different thread.
This isn’t good enough
This should be reported
The buyer should take action
The buyer is as culpable in this case as they are in a pollution case as they accept this milk.
I think...
so you have an untrained wolf who has already worried sheep before which you wish to allow to go and worry some more sheep. If I were you I’d be rather glad you weren’t seen last time, keep it on a lead whenever you go out and stay well away from livestock.
Im guessing mag. She’s been calved long enough it shouldn’t be cal but then by the time id found some mag her ears were cold so shoved one in the vein for good measure
Tag needs to have both sides. Those ones you sent must’ve lost it in transport which does unfortunately happen. Leaving your farm without 2 full tags IE 4 sides will get you into trouble.
I could quite believe that. I did some maths on retailing our own and at £1 a litre I didn’t leave a huge profit if you’d borrowed money at current rates
Anyone else seen ollyblogs post about polish farmers being paid 60p a litre and retailing in shops at 85p. Is the middle just taking all the cream here?
yes if you only consider one side of the figures which is what’s currently happening. That said efficiency is the key. Do what works for you and your farm well.
I didn’t/ haven’t but that’s what’s required from the industry in order to continue to supply our current markets. This is coming down from government targets. Companies are having to report their emissions and have a plan to reduce them.
Obviously sequestration hasn’t been taken into account...
