Of bothering to plough it down…..not sure how that could be missed. I have no problem if that’s the way you want to do it. I’m just happy to do it quicker, more naturally & cheaper….I’m probably just a tight arse.
I can imagine that mega mixing it through the soil profile - Akin to gardeners double digging - Will make the soil feel and look lovely. Everyone needs to do what they need to do, and by the sounds of it, your soil is really nicely biologically active. I just know so many guys that feel they...
Yes, you can absolutely drill through 15-20t/ac of muck, although that would be a slight management oversight since, while it works, it would be better to at least let the natural processes start.
DD doesn't cause compaction.....Poor or unfortunate management decisions do that. I suspect that a...
I wasn't saying muck is bad....I just never understood why it would be better put out of reach of the natural organisms that break it down, rather than on the surface.
Have never been able to get my head around ploughing down muck….I understand the volume issue, but:
Cows sh4t on the soil surface.
All the bugs that break down the sh4t live on the soil surface.
As the sh4t is broken down and drawn down through the soil profile, the different biota in the...
Direct Drilling, and particularly Disc Zero Til, is totally unforgiving where there is a drainage issue....Which *appears* to be the case in that picture....Noting further that clays are again, less forgiving than more freely draining land at suffering from drainage issues.
Cultivations will...
That will work where the plug WAPs can talk to each other by WiFi….but if the walls between WAPs are too thick & the plugs are on different rings, it won’t work (as far as I know, since they won’t have any physical or WiFi connection)
Just a note on the ring main access points…..they do work very well, BUT, they ONLY work on the ring main that the router is plugged into…..Many old houses have several different rings. Ours, for example, has 4. 🤦
Edited to say….I don’t know whether it is possible to daisy chain between rings.
Somerset Long House here, with 3-4' thick walls. The only solution i ended up being happy with with was:
Broadband supplier router as close to where the FTTP/FTTC comes into the house.
Ubiquiti Unifi PoE Switch connected to the router.
Cat5 cable runs from switch to Ubiquiti Unifi Wireless...
Ah yes, I took your figure for the petrol engine, apologies. Long day.
However, costing takes it to £5.50 in real life, so approx 0.87 gallons. No escaping that.
I’m pretty well satisfied that it does about 20mpg (equiv.) if driving with caution and a full battery. It’s just a shocker.
It is returning around 750w/mile. It’s shocking. But naturally, as per the Mitsubishi mentioned above, it does 150,00 mpg. I can’t believe people are being mugged so badly.
It’s a Plug in Hybrid. 15kW battery with appalling m/wh….i have never liked Hybrids, but I’m just utterly shocked at how bad this one is. Have had several EVs now, and plenty of ICEs….but completely shocked by the Hybrid!
So far, from my experience, I’d avoid Hybrids like the plague. The Tesla was soooo cheap to run, so I’d either stick with standard ICE or full electric from the likes of Polestar or Tesla.
Thank @Robt . So the straight diesel did only 3-4mpg better than a PHEV? That makes the Disco PHEV sound like a pupper! Maybe it’s just a one off. Incidentally, how did you work out the mpg of the PHEV XC60?

Tim
