It's a small pond not a massive reservoir! That's why I think the 600mm chamber is overkill, currently the ditch goes into a 9" pipe, so not huge flows of water, total area of pond won't be more than 75 sq/m, not worked out the levels yet but the deepest would only be 4ft max.

I direct drilled a cover crop but the rain pounded the soil down so hard I had to disc it and time drill my spring beans, if I hadn't the beans wouldn't have come to much, done that got the t-shirt.

FWAG in Somerset are paying via the Somerset rivers authority to reinstate and de-silt ponds, so might be worth calling them. I am hopefully going to 'make' a pond that is on defra maps but has never existed in the 50 years we've been here.
