He absolutely loved them. Still to this day has found nothing to grip like them. He bought them in 2001 and sold the 9145 in 2013 with 18k hours on her. 9125 is still going local, not sure of hours on her.
If ur looking a reliable 100hp tractor. Ford/NH 7740. If u can find an SL. Bullet proof, nothing to go wrong really. And in my opinion, will outpull a non turbo'd 7840. But that's only my experience. Someone else may say different. But I have found the SL's pull a lot better than the SLE.
I think the point of sending my cylinder head to McMurray because it hasn't dropped a valve was a wise decision, as they are recommended to be done at 8k hours.
Hardly much point waiting to it drops a valve and then sending it away. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
And at £400 I now have peace of...
Spends most of his time sorting John Deere heads alright.
And some time also spent fitting new valves to Powerstar heads (as a precautionary measure) £400 to have head fully reconditioned, not a complete fortune and leaves you safe for another 8-10k hours. [emoji1303]
And to quote what Paul...
Bought this off them 3 years ago. Good blokes to deal with. Have never heard a bad report about them. All stuff is generally very tidy.
Paul is currently reconditioning my cylinder head. Some nice TM's in yard ATM.
Check the fuel filter heads, there is a screw top on them which can be removed, they suck dirt up from the tank and it gathers there.
Had this problem before and was scratching my head for a while before actually figuring it out.
Brilliant. Very similar layout indeed. I'm on the right track now.
Will hopefully have my rebuilt head back by end of next week. Gives me a bit of time to source some 2nd hand parts.
