    quick fixes, bodges and creations

Is that from previous experience? I've been there before, too busy thinking about something else forgot to unscrew the lid, turned around and it had vacuumed itself to half the size!

British farmers given government tips on how to be less rude.

I always start the conversation off politely asking if they could remain on the public footpaths in future. 90% of the time I get a rude/abusive response back, at which point I feel they deserve whatever comes next! As its been mentioned previously, most farms are privately owned and a...

    Chronic labour shortages!

I read the other day the government are planning to cut/reduce universal credit to those who can't find employment in their preferred line of work after one month instead of the current three months. I think a lot of the trouble is that a lot people have become too "snobby" with what jobs they...

    National insurance Contributions increasing

Think of all the improvements that 8.9 billion could have made to our healthcare system had it not been wasted. Surely its got to be followed up with some serious action against those responsible or will it just be forgotten about like the penny that rolls under the shelves in the shop when you...

    National insurance Contributions increasing

I've noticed private healthcare has become a lot more popular lately. Im sure covid and the nhs backlog has a lot to do with it but I have noticed the wait times are a bit longer. I can't fault the treatment I've had privately, I am insured through Bupa and was before my diagnosis so their...

    National insurance Contributions increasing

Our GP is determined to remove all face to face visits. I just can't see how they can offer and make proper diagnosis that way. I understand and agree with a telephone triage system to prioritise and direct patients (and also filter out the ones that need a another week signed off), however I...

    National insurance Contributions increasing

I agree that is also the trouble with NHS, not only on a "patient service" level but also performance wise. I can't see there being any drive to work harder or better in a system like that. Even if you start hard working, how long before you realise your salary goes up regardless. Not needing...

    National insurance Contributions increasing

As the saying goes "your health is your wealth" I think that applies on both levels, as individuals and us as a nation. One of the main troubles I personally find with the NHS is the GPs. Our local surgery must cover at least 10,000 patients and only has one named GP at the surgery. Aside from...

BT underground phone cable, who's responsible.......?

I always use CAT scanner and genny on BT cables and it works pretty well. Can get a good second hand kit for what I'm sure would cost less than the bill and aggravation caused if it was hit. Handy for picking up any underground electric as well, that would be a whole different story if hit! BT...

Rotted Telegraph Pole - How to Remove?

You'll probably have to bust the concrete first. Depending how big you're talking, a decent heavy pointed bar and lots of sweat. I usually look for the smallest width of concrete between post and ground, keep going at that in the same spot till it splits, then keep busting it out in sections...

    Vitamin D

Thats why I stayed away from hospitals, I imagined going there already low for vit d then picking up covid! I'm sure I read somewhere that 1/3 of infections are contracted in hospital?

    Vitamin D

I wrongly assumed that working outside everyday would mean I would be getting enough Vit D in the winter. However after routine blood tests in December the doctor called me informing me my Vit D levels were worrying low and mentioned having an iv vit d. Due to the current situation with covid I...

At what weight are lambs to big for foxes.

This year I lost a week old strong single to a fox. The chap that saw it happen, but to far away to intervene quick enough, said it was like seeing a dog in the field with them. It picked this lamb off, cornered it and that was that.

    Head Torches

I have a Led lenser mh8, rechargeable by USB. Various brightness modes with plenty of light, and you can unclip from the strap to use hand held if needed. Another handy thing is the internal batteries are AAA so if you did run out between charges you can put some standard AAA batteries in!

Grazing oats and vetches, ewes with lambs at foot

Thank you! What sort of ratio are the turnips mixed in at? I’ve just weighed all the lambs today ready for them to move on tomorrow, I’ll get some idea of growth rates/performance.

Anyone use Mag flakes in water troughs?

I started putting mag flakes in water this year as not all ewes seem to bother with blocks/licks. I read somewhere to add 30-60g per ewe per day I’ll find the link but have just been adding about 1-2kg per to 8ft trough each time it’s filled up from bowser. So far seems to be working, fingers...
