Hi, does anyone know why I can't get dopram drops from the vet ? I asked today and the woman at the counter said is't been taken off the market ? Is this right ?
If so is there an equivalent product ?
All advice greatly received.
Cheers
Yes the cheaper production holds less risk. Some of the best profit I've seen is a neighbours daughter selling whole or half lambs direct - she's been at it for a few years and built up a nice group of returning customers, she's charging £140 for a fully butchered lamb freezer ready. When the...
I understand your question but really think your worrying too much about something that's outwith your control. If there's no profit folk will stop producing lamb, might take a while to change but if they can't turn a pound they won't bother. There's no happy medium price as there's such a...
@ OP I'll take every penny I can get for our lambs - it's impossible that someone can pay too much as they're only worth what the buyers willing to pay. Main thing is profit at the end of the day and the money is better in your bank.
Hill sheep scanned today @ 149% North blackies and hill cheviots - fair delighted ! Roll on lambing now to see how my experimental use of a southdown and beltex tups works out ......
Nice one Andy, Looks to be doing the trick for you. I think we will try something similar with some of our park sheep next year, will hopefully save the ground and grass if its as wet next back end. Geese have moved in now so it's time for a little sport.
Scanned small flock of park sheep today, delighted with the results;
1 late
6 single
22 pair
3 trip.
Were all sponged and tupped within 48hrs (only 7 never received pmsg)
Hill ewes will be another month yet.....
@Andyt880 ^^ Grand looking set up but how will you stop the fodder blocking the mesh? I fatten tail enders/hoggs using hoppers on wooden slats with wider gaps but have struggled to stop them clogging up if there's any fodders on offer. Many hours spent with a garden spade pushing refuse fodder...
Our cattle started to show signs of a lice problem shortly after housing, they were all soaking wet from licking. We treated with spot on at the correct dose rate immediately - we allowed 3 weeks to pass with little difference showing on any of the herd. 10 days ago we gave everything a...
Thanks for the reply, I'm weighing up the costs and ultimately the profit comparisons of first producing breeding females. The focus being on the steps prior to the introduction of a terminal sire. Stock options being;
1) buying decent Shetland ewes to put to a suitable hill cheviot tups
vs...
With the ram compare initial result becoming available, much mention of NZ composite breeds to maximise returns and talk of sheep farmings fortunes post brexit I keep pondering over which breed / cross would return the best profit from my system.
With this in mind I've started to wonder has...
I bought a bunch of meatlinc x texel and NCC ewes with Meatlinc lambs at foot a few years ago. Finished well off grass and topped the sale as either Tex or Chev and nobody noticed it wasn't either. Have since bought a tup but as others have said already there's great variations within the breed...
What sort of price could I expect to pay for a fully trained dog? I'm weighing up options and think that a dog that answers might actually be quite helpfully... There's lots of reputable breeders and trainers in the area but I'd like to know a rough figure prior to plunging myself in to sales...
10 tex to Beltex
10 CHM to Meatlinc
10 CHM to Tex
12 NCC park to NCC park
All sponged then tupped in 48hrs - Lamb indoors 1st week of March.
Hill sheep to be teased and run with Beltex, texel and a few tup lambs for Mid April lambing.
