Sorghum harvest. Have a contract for high moisture ( 14 % ) sorghum delivered to Narrabri ( 130 km ), but we hit 15% so have pulled up for the weekend Excellent soil moisture for next crop, but it makes it a bit heavy on the trucks pulling out along the black soil tracks 🤣 80 tonne bin is...

I was being quite generous with the field efficiency I thought - it would generally be higher when using a water / mixing truck 5 ha fields - I’d have thought 36 m would be more trouble than it’s worth 😮

    36 m x 20km/h x 10 hours say 75% field efficiency = 540 ha easy 👍

    Clarkson again

Honestly, I can’t see the appeal ? 🤷‍♂️ I have to admit to enjoying Clarkson on Top Gear, & I do understand his style of presenting but I caught part of a Clarkson Farm show a while ago & as a farmer, it was the most embarrassing & cringeworthy thing I have ever watched I have no idea who...

Some may remember me saying that I was going to get my old HZJ75 Toyota ( 1998 ) road registered again & put it back to work. Been unregistered since 2019, but cars don’t like sitting still for too long. A few jobs to get it to pass its roadworthy again, one of the main ones was replacing all...

where do farmers think farming will be, in 5 years time

I’ve never grown lamb & it’s been a long time since I’ve grown any beef but - a lot of the arable crops I grow are for export markets, so have some experience of that world 🤣 something like 75% of our total agricultural production is exported. To Asia ( China, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam etc etc...

where do farmers think farming will be, in 5 years time

respectfully, they are probably shooting sheep in WA ( first I’ve heard of it ) due to poor management decisions over the last 6 months, rather than short term transport issues . . . there are a LOT of trucks in Australia looking for work

where do farmers think farming will be, in 5 years time

As stated earlier, part of the reason for the expansion of the British Empire ( remember that ? ) was to feed the home populace . . . I don’t think you’ve been fully self sufficient in food production for 300 years or more ?

where do farmers think farming will be, in 5 years time

To be honest, this was the first I heard of this story remember - Australia is a VERY large country. Far larger than most can comprehend. As sad as the above story is, I personally think it highlights poor management decisions on the part of the individual, than any failings anywhere else...
