Had a similar call recently after we had a field gate pinched which the lady on the phone seemed almost amused by. Well I won’t tell you how I replied to the offer of ‘victim support’! 😡
Could I please have your recommendations for an auto darkening type welding mask as father has a significant birthday and thought it’d be a good present. He only welds (arc) outside so probably wouldn’t want/use one with the air-box thing anyway.
Thanks👍
Lovely looking shed, Are they easy fix cubicles @happycows ? Your mounting posts look a lot stronger than the box section I’ve seen them on before which I’ve been wary of in regards to their longevity?
Father in law used to do a few odd jobs at a racehorse stables and seemed to think that the horses were bedded on shredded ex bank notes. He used to spend ages sifting through the ‘bedding’ in hope of finding a non shredded note! Could have been a windup of course 🤷♂️
The country is a mess. I’m not against doing our best for nature but it seems to be the new excuse for councils to use so that they can spend money on other useless projects.
I can’t for the life of me think why a dairy farmer would want to go and buy someone else’s milk (with the exception of the herd being at high risk to tb).
I absolutely love the milk that my cows produce. I take pride in my hygiene standards and would like to think that if it’s good enough for...
Smart gatepost 👍 (plus a big like for the bit that makes you smile…..mine are still in because it wasn’t worth letting them out last week as they’d have been brought back in for this weeks tb test anyway😕).
Blunt pocket knives, more specifically when you’re in an awkward spot and someone hands you their knife (so that you don’t have to do the work of a contortionist to get your own out) and then you waste a minute of your life trying to cut through a piece of baler chord/gaffer tape/cable tie etc...
Here’s 3 of my recent samples. Variations only in butterfat for me at the moment but of no real concern as the diet has changed.

Are the samples taken manually or by an auto sampler on the lorry? You’ll always get the odd random sample but generally fluctuations would be minimal or at the least explainable with auto sampling. Manual samples can vary massively depending on which driver is doing it and whether or not you’ve...
I spoke to someone who milks in a doubled up version of your parlour today and they said they are averaging about 50 cows per hour if that helps (but I did forget to ask if they were fed with auto-id…. I suspect not though).
I think you may well be over estimating the examiner’s knowledge of tractors! They know the test inside out but tend to have a more general understanding of the tractor and what standards it ‘should’ comply to….and that’s about it.
I can’t see a problem with your choice of tractor but would just add that the examiner will also be looking for your observational skills. In a modern tractor this will be demonstrated by exaggerating your mirror checks to make it obvious that you are using them. I guess that if your tractor has...
A lot of difference between a digger working hard all day and being used as a glorified wheelbarrow to make life a bit easier though. Makes a difference to how it’s charged out from one job to the next.
