If access is that tight I would look at trying to sort that out first, it’ll make everything a lot easier! As said above though, buy the best you can afford. Little balers are a pain at the best of times!
Always had Englebert & Strauss but the last pair wore through where I keep my phone in less than 6 months so not impressed! The first pair of shoes I had from them did 18 months, the last two sets only 6….
They arrive having already had bavalto intranasal. We then give them Bavalto 4 three weeks later followed by the second jab at weaning 3-4 weeks later.
Since we started having Wagyu in which come pre vaccinated for pneumonia then we top it up our mortality and AB use has been slashed. The last 60 calves we reared I have not injected one since they arrived two months ago!
I keep all mine till they are 450kg so it hasn’t been an issue for me, but it’s a problem they have openly admitted to me they have. The bigger they are the more you get paid. If you have the space and don’t desperately need the cash an extra month isn’t to bad!
Generally growing fairly well here. Wheat after grass is knee high, wheat after oats not too far behind and triticale also knee high. Lucerne is also pushing knee high, surprising given the year!
They can be slow shifting weaned calves and young cattle. I’ve reared 200 for them since last September and overall very pleased. Good to deal with, fairly relaxed and helpful and no targets regarding weight or age etc so it’s just like rearing them for your self.
Currently grow triticale which overall I really like but the extra straw from rye does appeal. Having to buy new seed every year doesn’t though! Is more sensitive to the wet and pre ems than wheat.
