Not so fast. 7th of October 2018, came on a biker who had collided with a car in a very serious state. First 999 call went to the English side, it wasn't passed on. Made another call 10 minutes later to request air ambulance, tried giving latitude and longitude, and the call handler couldn't repeat the correct numbers. Tried 5 or 6 times, she just couldn't do it, absolutely useless, while I'm telling the guy moaning on the tarmac that "help is on it's way". Long story short, police arrive at the 45 minute mark, 2 ambulances arrive at 48 minutes, and tell me they were only called on 10 minutes prior. Air ambulance arrived 5 minutes later, the guy died at 80 minutes where he had fallen. Dont think the Scottish Emergency services call handling will save you, it's an utter shambles. Now have 'what 3 words' on the phone. For 'state of the art', have a look at the Swiss 'Rega' system and app. It's an air ambulance subscription service that costs a family about £50 - £60 a year, and is designed to have a helicopter with a casualty within 18 minutes of anyone in Switzerland who uses the emergency GPS location button on the smart phone app, which you can also use to send a picture of the scene. The average response time is actually 17 minutes, day or night.
