Always remember when people around you when you’re playing with PTO I know this from experience after nearly having my ankle just below the shin bone amputated My driver and myself went to move a terra Gator lime spreader which was towing a low loader at the time which was loaded. He asked me to look at light socket above the spinning discs so I jumped up and my leg was in between the discs on shelf standing there , my driver had disappeared looking at something else The next thing I heard the engine starting up and immediately engaging the PTO The machine was having electrical problem which started the PTO the Machine was going into Lister Wilder to be sorted out the following morning . But my driver had forgot I was on the back of the machine when he started the engine up and engaged the PTO engaging the spinning discs which my leg was in between so my leg was shredded just above my ankle and below my knee I had to pull it out and jump off the machine at the same time missing the towbar of the low loader and the headboard at the same time this cost me four months of work and I have scar on my leg where it was shredded the muscles and breaking my bones in my leg and I was very lucky ! I was in theatre for six hours the hospital was fantastic so was the ambulance service. The thing was my driver just forgot that I was on the back of the machine as he was concentrating on doing what he was doing.
