thats about the same sort of figures here , all these new breeders forget the ram has to go on and do its job and live 5 years without the bag , its more than one day in its life , hence why i dont sell at Exeter or Builth NSA feeding like that knackers the rumens . My first 5 sold last year were april born (shearlings ) no creep , margin would be well above december born lambs . anyway back to reports Sedge monday A much larger entry of 1105 hoggs, but of a much more mixed quality, sold to a slightly easier trade for the lighter types, but just as strong for the heavier hoggs. The best lighter weights sold to 292ppk from CJ Sage and J Harvey. Others 291 and 283ppk from G Pike; 287 and 286 from R Young; 285ppk from GR Farmer (2x) and Bailey Bros and 284ppk from LF & JM Heywood. Heavier hoggs sold to £160 and £138 from TE & SJ Popham. Others £146.50, £145 and £140.50 from AE Vile & Son; £142 from DA & AP Gillbard; £141 from MP & DM Hine and MB & KN Crabb; £140 from GR Farmer; £139.50 and £137 from JP Tolley; £139 from AJ Crabb, GR Barnett and J Carson and £137 from G Barnes. Overall average £124.43. An entry of 70 lambs met a very strong trade and sold to 315ppk from Thornhill Farm (Dorset) Ltd. Others 309ppk from TJ Mitchell and 308ppk from RB Bowditch & Son. Heavier lambs sold to £138.50, £136.50 and £133 all from Thornhill Farm (Dorset) Ltd. Overall average £129.50.
