A westerly flow elsewhere, still to gale force in places.</p><p>Warm fronts pass into Ireland in the afternoon, spreading eastwards ahead of the next area of low pressure which will move close to northwest Ireland in the evening. Winds increasing again in the evening with widespread severe gales developing into Christmas morning.</p><p>Showers, some heavy in northern and western Scotland with sleet and snow on the hills. Showers affecting western coasts and hills of England and Wales. Drier and brighter in many central, southern and eastern parts of England.</p><p>Increasing cloud through Ireland with rain in the west by lunchtime. This then spreads east in the afternoon as the winds increase.</p><p>Winds W 20-25kt (F5-F6) but 30-40kt (F8-F9) in northern Scotland, increasing SW 40-55kt (F9-F10) in Ireland through the afternoon, then SW 35-45kt (F8-F9) for all during the evening. </p><p><img src="http://i.imgur.com/IxdmMZM.gif" alt="" class="fr-fic fr-dii fr-draggable " style="" /></p><p></p><p>CHRISTMAS DAY</p><p>------------------------</p><p>A mild and windy Christmas Day.
