It's really not so simple is it? My perception is that some races of people have lived for many generations on a meat based diet, and some races have lived on a plant based diet, and then there's every other diet in between. I understand that there's groups of people on earth that can remain perfectly healthy as life long vegetarians or even as vegans, just as it's obvious that the people that have lived for generations eating nothing more than fish and seals don't suffer ill health because they missed out on their 5 a day for countless generations. I realise it's possibly a highly contentious subject, but in my opinion it's quite silly that we don't seem to want to recognise that there are major differences in dietary requirements depending on ethnicity, just look at the disproportionate obesity and other health problems that certain groups of indigenous people are battling thanks to their rapid transition from their traditional hunter-gatherer style diet to a modern European junk food diet consisting of mainly grains and sugar. One size doesn't fit all. which of course is why everybody should be left to choose their own diet, free from government and corporate influences. This modern idea that a perfect diet that is best for everybody's health could ever be worked out by a public health body or government, and will optimal for every individual in any country is stupidity. Sorry, just thinking aloud, it's a rambling post and a bit off topic. I thought about just deleting it but then remembered you lot were squabbling about FGM a while ago, so in contrast this post doesn't seem so far off....
