Hi, my name is Jimmy and never thought I will be joining and writing on a farming forum, although I always told my dad that I love nature and farm life, but never lived on one neither inherited it from anywhere. I am 36, and until recently I have been working in real estate capital funds and finance, after qualifying as a chartered accountant 12 years ago. Short while ago, I came across a piece of land in Kent, which is a relatively a small plot with previous licensee running a Christmas trees business. Due to Brexit, the employer I was working for changed direction of his billion pounds investment management business, and left me to find my self to try do same elsewhere or do something new. Being a bit entrepreneurial and also that find industry was changing shape, I started looking into running a chartered accountancy practice and attempt an online e-commerce stint, just before the Covid arrived. With covid, we went back indoors, and while trying bit of luck with e-commerce, I suddenly received a news that licensee is leaving and if I wish to own the trees and sell them! Never expected that but somehow he has thankfully left trees for me to look after and realise some gain from, as already was struggling with generating steady income, here come an opportunity that I can entertain with my 2 years and one year olds.. The rest is yet to be known with what will happen between me and getting to farming Christmas trees. The land is about 3 acre plot in Kent, partly woodland so about 2 acres used for tree farming. The possibility of relocating to Scotland, if it works, is suddenly on the table to explore the horizons!
