At the time we had two combines a MF 525 and a JD 1055 back then when land and labour were affordable and grain prices were the same as today it made sense . Both were traded against a J D 1177 which we kept till it went on fire i. 2002 . We were on the back foot by then with land rents reaching stupid levels we dropped a lot of penny paying land and much against my fathers wishes he wanted a New Holland i bought a barely used MF 29 XP off an estate in England . My love / hate relationship with the 29 has endured to this day but a change may be on the cards for this harvest as im now mostly on ny own and the 29 can give a lot of niggly electrical problems that lose time . Maybe another Deere or a Deutz ? Both of the Byrne brothers who run breakers yards are avid fans of deutz combines and rate them highly for reliabllity and cost of ownership .
