My tuppennys worth (and I’ve never been to Glastonbury). Pilton is a village with around a thousand residents - I assume that like most of the villages around here (Northumberland), Pilton has got considerably larger over the past decade or two, and that there has been considerable churn in the residents over the past nearly 50 years that the festival has been going (although I do see that it has become really big only in the past few decades). You may have lived in the village all your life: if so I’d guess you’re in a small minority. Anyone moving into the village should have been well aware of the disruption the festival will cause. I’m not a fan of people moving into an area and then moaning about what’s been going on for years! Glasto is one of very few internationally recognised festivals. You can speak to someone anywhere in the world and they will know where you’re talking about. It’s a massive undertaking and Eavis has been fantastically successful. A lot of what you’re saying comes across as sour grapes and nimbyism. The festival is held every other year now - I can see that it will cause issues for a few long term residents but if so why not arrange your holiday for that week if you don’t fancy battening down the hatches? Some of what you allege is downright illegal eg infilling with waste without a license. I don’t understand why the EA wouldn’t be highly interested in that, IF it’s true. As I say, massive event, sells out in seconds, ridiculously popular, good luck to the guy, hope he gets some more stages if that’s what he wants!
