We also have a Teagle Topper - model TBM 250, it is a re-badged Betis machine, I think. We bought it new last year, it has since done 4 or 5 PTO shafts in maybe 50 acres topping. Sheared the end right off one, ripped the yokes apart on the others. Fair gives you a fright when they go. Teagle eventually paid for one, said it must have been a faulty shaft but that's rubbish. It did that one shortly afterwards, so they sent a chap out and he took the machine to bits and checked it all over carefully, said it is all fine, so we lent it to a neighbour. He got 150m around his headland topping thistles and docks, it spread the yokes on the pto shaft. Being embarrassed, thinking it was him, he replaced the shaft but when we found that out we got Teagle back out and they have now taken it away to investigate. That was about 4 months ago, heard nothing from them ever since! Got it on my list to phone them and ask for a replacement machine or our money back. There's something massively wrong - to shear several pto shafts, that takes some force. We're worried it is going to bugger the tractor gear box. And yes the gear box on our topper gets bloody hot, even just topping grass in the orchard. Anyone else got this problem?
