[QUOTE="toquark, post: 7796065, member: 72428"] Brexit isn't the cause of the anger and discontent, its the symptom. Same with Trump. Social media just amplifies and accelerates everything. For a long time across the west there's been a widening gulf between the ruling class and so called "elites" and everyone else. The elites represent a vanishingly small percentage of the population but are the only ones selected by political parties to be presented for election, so regardless of what party is in power, we get more of the same. This is particularly apparent in the US when very credible candidates such as Tulsi Gabbard are smeared and dishonestly discredited to favour of the likes of Clinton or Biden. This is why Farage and Trump did well, they are insurgents. Its important to note though that the UK & US have been in similar predicaments in the past, most recently through the 1970s. Strong leadership was the order of the day then to get both countries back up but sadly I can't see anyone this side of the Atlantic showing those attributes. Cometh the hour, cometh the man.
